Gluten Free Curried Sausages

Its that time of year again where I just crave a nice warm comforting meal. These Gluten Free Curried Sausages is an easy, delicious, and affordable meal for the whole family. It’s tasty, quick, and easy to make, cooks in one pan, and the kids love it!

It takes under 30 minutes and is a great one-pot meal. Serve it with rice, mashed potatoes, or fries!

Sausages: Use your favourite gluten free sausages. You could even use a vegetarian sausage! Buy good quality sausages as they taste much better and keep their shape better.

Onions and garlic: Don’t skip the onions and garlic as they add a nice oomph of flavour.

Veggies: I like using carrots and frozen peas. But you can add any veg that you want.

Curry powder: You can use any curry powder blend that you have available. Each brand will have a slightly different flavour and taste. So pick one that you like and make sure its gluten free.

Flour: A little gluten free flour is added to thicken the sauce. If your don’t have any gluten free flour you can also use corn flour.

Can I cook this in the slow cooker? Yes, just brown off the sausages before adding to the slow cooker with all the other ingredients but the peas. cook on low for 6 hours and high for 3 hours. Add the peas to the pot in the last hour.

Ingredients
  • 600g sausages
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 carrot, sliced
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 3 tbsp gluten free flour
  • 500ml chicken stock/broth
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen peas
Instructions
  1. Heat some oil in a large pan over medium high heat.
  2. Cook sausages, turning to brown all over then remove from the pan.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and onion. Cook for 2 minutes until soft.
  4. Add curry powder and stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Add flour and mix for 30 seconds.
  6. Gradually pour in chicken stock, mixing constantly.
  7. Add carrots, sugar, salt and pepper, stir well.
  8. Slice the sausages.
  9. Add sausages and peas, bring to simmer and cook for 3 minutes or until sauce thickens.
