Hi everyone. I know I don’t travel abroad too often to post here on my travel category on the blog but just last month I went somewhere super exciting.
Last month, our family went to Legoland Windsor for the first time and we had a blast! We stayed for 3 nights in the Legoland Resort Hotel in a Pirate themed room.
The rides of course were fun but I also had a great experience with gluten free food options. Before we made our travel plans, I needed to see if eating gluten free at Legoland Windsor was really an option. I researched the park on their website ahead of time to learn about allergy friendly options. On the website it will show each restaurants details and will mention whether they cater gluten free alternatives.
We had a wonderful time at Legoland Windsor. I brought my own food for snacking on just in case I was not satisfied with the gluten free options, but ended up not needing them. I spoke to the staff at each restaurant prior to ordering. In all instances, the dining staff was very attentive and careful. I was very impressed at how well they were able to accommodate me!
As there are so many places to eat, we did not get to try every restaurant that had gluten free alternatives. The night we arrived I had a Chicken Curry in Bricks Restaurant Buffet before our little one had some fun with the live shows before heading to bed. Every morning we had breakfast in Bricks Restaurant. I had the same each morning, Bacon, Beans, Fried Tomato Fried Mushrooms and a Fried Egg with a cup of tea. There was more options like Gluten Free Corn Flakes and Gluten Free Rice Crispies but I was happy with what I had.
We had a blast the first day out in the park. As my son is obsessed with everything Lego, it is a trip we will never forget just seeing his face light up. For lunch we went to City Walk Pasta & Pizza Restaurant, again this was a buffet that served pizza slices, salads and pasta. I made myself a delicious salad as I did not see any other options. I then went back and asked a staff member if there was any more options for me other than salad, so they made me a fresh pizza right away. The staff members were very helpful and considerate of my Gluten free requests. Even better than the buffet because it wasn’t sitting out, its was hot and fresh! Just how I like my pizza. They even delivered it right to my table. My partner just looked at me and said, ”What you get a whole 10” pizza?”
After eating in City Walk Pasta & Pizza we where so full so we only had something small in bricks restaurant for dinner that evening. I had some chips, and a salad. The next day was our second day out in the park and for lunch we stopped at The Hill Top Café. Honestly there was not much to offer here. I asked if they have gluten free bread and if they could make me up a gluten free sandwich, they said they had no bread left and to look over by the ready made sandwiches as there would be gluten free sandwiches too. I checked and they had none there either. I then looked at the menu and seen they had baked potatoes, again I asked if they could make me up one, they said they had none left. They told me there was only one option for me which was the Three Bean Chilli and Rice. So of course I was hungry and thought okay I will have that. It was delicious but far too spicy for my liking.
That evening we decided to go over to the Castle Hotel for our dinner. I was not sure what was gluten free on the menu so I asked a staff member and they got the main Chef to come to my table and explain what can be changed up to be gluten free. He was very helpful and explained everything very well. He even told me that they have a specific area to prepare the gluten free options to prevent cross contamination as much as possible. After learning what I could eat on the menu I went for a seasoned chicken breast with chips. I was surprised when it came to the table as it was definitely not just a breast. It was a half a Chicken. ???
The next morning it was time to go. We had such a great time. Below I have added some pictures of my family having a great time.
So if you decide to go to Legoland Windsor I hope you have a great time and I hope I have taken some weight off your shoulders about the gluten free options there. Bye for now.
