Gluten-Free Quick & Easy Sausage Rolls
There’s something truly comforting about a warm, flaky sausage roll and when they’re gluten free, even better! These Gluten-Free Quick & Easy Sausage Rolls are made with simple ingredients: just sausage meat and gluten free puff pastry. Honestly, do you need any more convincing? Once you’ve tried them fresh from the oven, you’ll never go back to shop-bought again.
Whether you’re prepping party food, planning lunchboxes, or craving a savoury snack, this easy homemade version is here to impress.

Why You’ll Love These Gluten-Free Sausage Rolls
Making gluten free sausage rolls at home means full control over flavour and quality. While some shop-bought versions can be hit or miss (some downright awful, if we’re being honest), these homemade rolls are buttery, flaky, and filled with juicy, well-seasoned sausage. All it takes is a little time, and the result is well worth it!
The best part? You only need a few ingredients and very little prep. Perfect for baking beginners and seasoned cooks alike.

Ingredient Swaps and Variations
- Sausage Meat: If you can’t find gluten free sausage meat, don’t worry. You can easily substitute it with pork mince, just season it yourself with salt, pepper, and your favourite herbs.
- Customise the Flavour: Feel free to add in some extras to the filling. Think finely chopped onions, fresh sage, thyme, or even a pinch of mustard powder for extra kick.
- Festive Twist: Stir in a spoonful of cranberry sauce or a sprinkle of stuffing mix for a Christmassy version. Try my Turkey, Stuffing & Cranberry Sausage Rolls for the perfect Christmas Appetizer.

Tips for the Best Results
- Use Cold Pastry: Keep your gluten free puff pastry chilled right up until you’re ready to use it. This helps keep the layers flaky during baking.
- Don’t Overfill: Too much filling and the pastry might burst open. A nice even log of sausage meat works best.
- Golden Finish: A good egg wash on top helps achieve that golden, bakery-style crust.
Serving Suggestions
These sausage rolls are perfect served hot or cold. Enjoy them with ketchup, brown sauce, or mustard, or try a festive dip like cranberry sauce or warm gravy. Ideal for:
- Lunchboxes
- Picnics
- Christmas platters
- Afternoon tea

Storing & Reheating
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the pastry crispy. These can also be frozen after baking—just defrost and reheat before serving.
