Bright, zesty, and drizzled with a sweet orange glaze, these Gluten-Free Orange Scones are an absolute delight! They’re soft and tender on the inside, with a light golden crust on the top and bottom. Bursting with real orange juice and zest, these scones are the perfect addition to breakfast, brunch, or a sweet afternoon treat with a cup of tea.

I based this recipe on my tried-and-true gluten free plain scones but gave them a citrusy makeover by adding both fresh orange juice and zest to the dough. The result? A batch of scones that are soft, never dry, and absolutely packed with orange flavour in every bite.

To really bring out that fruity flavour, I topped the cooled scones with a simple glaze made from icing sugar and more fresh orange juice. I even added a bit of zest on top for that lovely pop of colour. It makes the scones look as good as they taste!

These are honestly one of my new favourite bakes. They smell incredible as they bake, and they’re just the thing when you want a bake that feels a little fancy but is still easy to make. The kids love them with a little butter or jam, but I love mine warm with just the glaze, perfect with a cuppa!

These gluten-free orange scones are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. You can also freeze them (unglazed) and defrost when needed.
Make sure your flour blend contains xanthan gum or add ½ tsp separately.
For a dairy-free version, use a dairy-free butter and milk alternative.
